Meningococcal disease in Saudi Arabia
As of 21 June 2024, a total of 14 cases of invasive meningococcal disease (serogroup W) have been reported in the United States (5), France (4), the United Kingdom (3), Norway (1), and the Netherlands (1) in travellers or contacts of travellers returning from Umrah pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

Meningococcal disease in France, UK, USA ex Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
As of 17 May 2024, twelve cases meningococcal disease have been reported, from France (4), the United Kingdom (UK) (3), and the United States (US) (5). Almost all cases reported performing Umrah pilgrimage while in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The majority of cases belong to meningococcus serogroup W and have no history of vaccination.
